Our Pastor

Rev. Stephen Herrod confessed the call to preach at the tender age of 6 years old. He settled for preaching to his teddy bears, and weekly services with his family in the basement of their home, until being licensed to preach at 10 years old in June 2004. He served in a number of roles at the Greater Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of Pastor Maurice Rudds until receiving the call to Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church, East.

 

In 2019, at the age of 24, Pastor Stephen Herrod became the youngest Senior Pastor called to serve the historic Bethel Baptist Church, East in Detroit. Under his servant leadership, Bethel East is experiencing growth and change in many ways.

 

Rev. Stephen Herrod holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Finance from Eastern Michigan University; and Master of Divinity from Moody Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. He is currently a MSW candidate at the University of Michigan with a concentration on community change.

 

Pastor Stephen Herrod is married to Alexandria Herrod and is the proud father of their daughter, True Lee Herrod and baby in the womb in August!
